At Celebration on November 16th, Giving Sum announced Indy Reads as the 2011 recipient of the $50,000 Giving Sum grant. Indy Reads will use the grant, and our volunteers, to launch a used and new bookstore in 2012. 

Indy Reads provides free, basic adult literacy tutoring to adults who read at or below the sixth grade level, working with over 1,100 adults annually. With the $50,000 grant from Giving Sum, in addition to funds from other philanthropic organizations and Indianapolis resident, Indy Reads will open a community bookstore which will serve as a revenue-center for the organization, a community space for tudoring, and an opportunity for student training. Members are excited and honored to partner with Indy Reads on this project.
