Q: Who do you work for?
BioCrossroads
Q: Why did you join Giving+Sum?
I joined Giving Sum to increase my direct involvement in philanthropy in the Indianapolis community and to expand my personal and professional networks. I have contributed time and other resources to charitable and philanthropic causes for some time, but Giving Sum presented an opportunity to enhance those experiences by learning about a wide array of issues and causes impacting our community, playing a participatory role in reviewing prospective grants, and leveraging my resources with those of others who are similarly motivated.
Q: What do you consider your best personality trait?
Thoughtfulness
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up, it was a tossup between pursuing a career as a professional baseball player and becoming Spider-Man. I think that I have now settled on one day becoming Spider-Man.
Q: Of all of the Gilligan's Island characters, I am most like...(and say why!)
I would probably have to say The Professor. Not for my advanced scientific skills afforded by my background in business and political science, or for the fact that I can build pretty much anything out of coconuts and bamboo, but more so for The Professor’s characteristics of being level-headed and practical, that I think I share.

Giving Sum is proud to announce that it has $50,000 available to eligible non-profits via its 2009 grant. The 2009 Request for Support contains a detailed description of the application and review processes. Giving Sum had the great fortune of hosting Robert Egger, founder of the DC Central Kitchen at our Cocktails with Leaders event. Our members were treated to a truly inspirational presentation from one of the most innovative philanthropist our generation has seen. Robert’s message to Giving Sum- keep doing what we are doing, challenge ourselves and keep breaking down barriers. A special thanks to Dean Johnson Design for hosting the event and 21st Amendment and A Classic Party Rentals. For more information on Robert’s latest project visit http://www.v3campaign.org/
As an organization, we are committed to providing a valuable and highly meaningful service to our community. This is made possible through our member donations of which 100% goes directly to our annual grant.
We are currently looking for additional support that will allow us to continue to implement programs, recruit and retain members and provide valuable services to the community beyond our annual grants.
With our official 501 c-3 designation, all contributions are tax-deductible. This operational support is paramount to building a successful and sustainable organization and we appreciate any and all support. Every little bit will help us continue to build upon this incredible organization.
